Avett’s American
Just a few weeks ago the Avett Brothers announced they were teaming up with Rick Rubin and American for their next album.
Rick Rubin’s track record speaks for itself and the Avetts have clearly earned their way in the world. Both seem to be the perfect match for the other.
So what’s wrong with this picture? Not much given that Ramseur Records‘ Dolph Ramseur will be retained as their manager. Still I muse somewhat nostalgically at the moment I received my first Avett record with a handwritten note from Dolph enthusiastically explaining while these three guys (including the famously scary beards at the time) were the next big thing for Americana.
While I’m sure Ramseur will continue with the fine artists on its label, I can’t help but appreciate having a glimpse at the beginning.
